Heavy Ion Fusion Research
Google Tech Talk 11 November 2010 presented by Dr. Charles Helsley. Abstract: The limited supply and environmental impact of the global carbon-based fuels require that identify another source of energy and potential. This analysis is applied to synthetic biofuels and fossil fuels. The obvious candidate to replace carbon-based fuels, solar energy conversion, wind, hydropower, geothermal energy extraction, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. If the size scale necessary to meetthe energy needs of the world, but all of absolute fusion serious impact on the environment causing geopolitical instability, or show the very limited availability, reliability and sustainability. Most of the technologies that they suffer more than one of these problems. The fusion of deuterium and tritium (DT) to form helium and a neutron is a known reaction which provides enormous amounts of energy. Even if enough fuel is in the sea water to support the global demand for energyMillennia, we still have an engine capable of reaction. Since 2009, the search for such an engine is gone for 6 years and says the common wisdom that it removes five decades. The problem is that research has focused on the regime of 1 GW (the size of a large power plant). HIF is that now the engine. What is not generally known that a safe practice to use the isotope of hydrogen reaction was developed in 1970, but gave up because it only…
